Tony Husband, a bit about. |
Hello you! Tony Husband, has been a full time cartoonist since 1984. He won the Joke Cartoonist of the Year in 1985, 1986 and 1987 and the Strip Cartoonist of the Year in 1990 and Sports Cartoonist of the Year in 1994. Last year he was runner up in the Strip Cartoonist and Joke Cartoonist of the Year sections. I've been a full time cartoonist since 1984. The same year I won my first award for gag cartoonist. Followed again in 85 and 86 and strip cartoonist in 87. This year (2002) I won the sports cartoonist of teh year, this is the second time, before that was 93. Last year I was voted both, gag and strip cartoonist of the year. Anyway, enough of the awards. My work appears in The Times sport section daily, The Sunday Express sports section. I'm also in the Daily Express, Private Eye, The Spectator, Oldie, Harpers Wine Weekly, Prescriber, Nursing Standard, Nursery World, Golf International, Manchester United Magazine, Playboy and Many others. I'm working on two rangesfor Hallmark Cards, I', also doing live strip/poetry shows with the "Baird of Barnsley" Ian McMillan, a King of "Whose Line is it Anyway". Great fun and the audience get totally involved. I like to vary my career. I've had over 20 books published in English, German, Welsh, Russian and Chinese. I've co-written a childrens play with playwrite David Wood, edited and devised a comic called "Oink!" with Patrick Gallagher and the late Mark Rogers. Also co-written and created "Round the Bend", a kids puppet and anaimation show, with Hattrick Productions for Yorkshire T.V. which was nominated for a Royal TV Society Award. I have co-written a screenplay for Hattrick with Rory Mcgrath. Oh yeah, John Peel played a record on his show that I wrote for our comic Oink! My dreams fulfilled.
